Also, if you are a die-hard pizza lover, prepare to get your taste buds blown away with the rich flavor and famous pizzas!

So again, what’s it like exploring the city?

Things To Do In New Haven, Connecticut

Let me know after your trip to New Haven!

Till then, let’s explore some places through this article.

1) Have A Visit To Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library

The world is full of weird and unusual theories and myths. There’s no way of knowing whether aliens exist, if mermaids are just a tale of lonely-hallucinated pirates, or if the bigfoot is a myth.

We don’t have answers to these questions yet, but the possibility is not zero.

Have A Visit To Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library

Maybe there is a lost hidden city in the jungles of the amazon, or maybe there is another world in the dark and depth of the sea. Maybe the Bermuda triangle is just a gate block to another dimension?

The list goes on, but there is nothing more interesting than a rare book with mythical creatures and language unknown to the world we live in right now.

And where do we find such books (yes, you read it right; Books, plural), or do such books even exist?

The answer is yes, and these books are preserved at the Yale library, Beinecke Rare Book, and Manuscript Library.

Ironically, even the library has the word ‘’rare’’ in its name!

Built in 1961, the stark marbled building with extraordinary modern architecture is the world’s biggest library and home to the global most mysterious books.

This library contains over 180,000 books, and the most mysterious and puzzle-filled books are enclosed inside a 6-story glass-towered stack.

If you are wondering, access to the library is not just limited to faculty members and students (including researchers) of Yale University.

Anyone can access this library to sit around, study or just go through the rarest of all the books.

Interestingly, the oldest printed book in their collection is a Gutenberg Bible from the mid-14th century.

However, the most popular book from their collection is the Voynich Manuscript, also known by its serial number, Beinecke MS 408.

Although there is little knowledge about the origin of the book, what makes the book so interesting that engineers, chemists, physicians, and astronomers around the world have come for this book now?

The catch is written in a mysterious language that no one has ever heard or can understand.

You will find different types of number-type symbols (if that’s what the author intended to write?) and drawings of insect-like structure drawn, with much gibberish written on them.

To date, no one has cracked the book’s code. Some believe it is just a random book, and others claim it could be a medicine book or maybe just a textbook, like a book with all the research on different subjects written in a book.

Honestly, no one has figured out what is written in it, but it still has attracted people worldwide to see this place and discover more books like this.

This is not all. The Beinecke Library also has exhibitions and private & public events for visitors.

With great food to try on and beverages to drink while you learn astonishing facts is truly an experience, you don’t want to miss out on.

If you think you can figure out these riddles, or just visit the world’s largest library for its famous exhibitions and events, head on!

Also, don’t forget to grab the free postcards on your way, exiting the place as a souvenir.

Things To Know

2) Explore Cushing Brain Centre And Library

Alright, my reader folk, I will try to make this one the library, but Cushing Brain Centre and Library is interesting to mention, so be prepared to get your brains to explode (pun intended).

Explore Cushing Brain Centre And Library

So, let’s go a hundred years back and to the exact year when the idea of the real-life brain specimen collection began.

In 1902 Harvey Cushing’s assistant had misplaced one of the specimens, but from this little mistake, a real iconic and historical name was brought into the spotlight.

Now, to avoid any further mistakes as the assistant had done, Harvey decided to take matters into his own hands, and through this, he collected and arranged everything on his own!

There are over 2,200 cases in the Cushing Brain Tumour registry, including whole brain specimens, tumor specimens, microscopic slides, notes, journal excerpts, and over 15,000 photographic negatives dating from the late 1800s to 1936.

You will find pictures of actual patients who donated their brains, strange and related diseases, and exhibitions to learn more about the neuroscientist’s life, works, and even his brain (ironic, right?!)

So, if you have a weird obsession with brains or want to explore this place for a newly developed interest in neurology, then this is your place to get amazed and have your brains dropped (out into jars!).

I will stop with my puns, but you should visit this place!

Things To Know

    • Monday – Thursday: 7:30 am – Midnight
    • Friday: 7:30am – 10:00pm

    • Sunday: 10:00am – Midnight
  • The center is not wheelchair accessible, so plan your trip accordingly
  • Visitors are allowed to take pictures; however, they should be respectful towards the patient’s specimen while photographing
  • Visitors are not allowed to visit the Yale Campus unless they have an approval

3) Explore Yale Collection of Musical Instruments

WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME you saw (or heard) a ratchet, sheng, Lapa, helicon, erxian, czakan, or maybe cor anglais all in one place, under the same room?

Explore Yale Collection of Musical Instruments

If you wish to see any of these instruments or hear them play, head to the Yale Collection of Musical Instruments, where you will find these mesmerizing and captivating instruments and many more interesting things to explore!

A collection of historic keyboards was donated to the university by Morris Steinert in 1900, leading to the establishment of the building.

Over the years, its Collection has expanded and includes instruments from various cultures and periods.

The museum also has a rich collection of organs, clavichords, harpsichords, spinets, virgins, and pianos.

In addition to gorgeous string instruments, there are small pianos that you can easily play with your thumbs, colorful bells, and even older instruments, maybe dating from the 15th century!

And to add another interesting fact, the building in which the Collection is housed is also historical. Originally built in 1895 as a fraternity, the Romanesque structure now serves as a museum, and it was in 1961 when the Collection moved into space.

Apart from exhibiting these historic and ancient instruments, the museum hosts concerts and events, which you should not miss out on!

So, if you are lucky to get that rare chance to attend these events, and even if you don’t, the museum is worth the visit.

Things To Know

  • The Collection is open from Tuesday to Friday (with timings of 1 p.m. to 4 p.m) and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.). It is open from September through July.
  • The Collection is closed on national holidays during August and Yale recesses.

But what makes the whole trip interesting? The best part about visiting this place is understanding the background of manufacturing and packaging the delicious PEZ candies.

8) Discover Modern Apizza’s Delicious Pizza!

Alright, we have discussed a few places you can visit, but while exploring the places, you might want a place that satisfies your taste buds.

So, for a fair chance, let’s give the local cuisine a chance.

So here’s a question:

I’m pretty sure you all must be wondering if it’s worth trying or not, with a city that’s so rich in culture and history. It’s quite undoubtedly the taste!

So, we welcome you to one of the best pizza places you should try out!

Warning: Once you step into Modern Apizza, you might be stuck forever!

Be prepared to be hungry and start daydreaming about your dining stop and food that you might not find anywhere else but here!

Discover Modern Apizza’s Delicious Pizza!

There are two places in the Northeast where you can get the best pizza, New York and our great place NEW HAVEN!

But what’s so special about New Haven’s pizza? Honestly, it’s more than just taste. The rumors are that one bite can question your entire existence over the unbelievable taste of this town’s pizza!

Don’t you believe me? Let me explain.

Now, for general knowledge, we all know Italians are officially the “creators’ ‘of pizza. Keeping that fact in mind, many immigrated to the US during the early 1900s for a better chance.

Did they achieve big dreams and a better lifestyle? They left a signature mark in many cities because of their pizzas, among which New Haven’s is included too!
So, while you are in the city, you don’t want to miss out on the chance of pizza, their famous pizza, A pizza!

Things To Know:

Modern Apizza serves not the best but also the city’s signature pizza.

Their not just pizza. It’s a thin, pliant crust with an irregular shape but a taste that leaves your mouth tingling with joy after each bite.

Just like in NYC, the legendary dish is cooked in high-temperature coal-fired brick (whereas some may use just fuel as a gas, but either way, it does not affect the taste).

Allow your taste buds to explore the thin crust with deep red tomato sauce mixed with ingredients of high quality and the simplicity of this dish.

Surely, this dish has been a tradition for New Haven, and with all the bursting flavors coming after each bite, it’s quite understood why it should be.

And if you are looking for some good recommendations, we have that covered for you! But just for clarity, any pizza place is a great pizza place when you are in New Haven.

9) New Haven’s (Italian) Pastry And Ice Cream Shops

It has been recorded that during the early 19th century, Northeast cities (including Boston and Philadelphia) had an immense number of immigrants coming from Europe (most of which were Italians).

New Haven’s (Italian) Pastry And Ice Cream Shops

Just like that, New Haven has created a soft spot for these immigrants who, in return, brought great flavors and new cuisine to the locals and now tourists from all over the world!

And just like that, if going to France seems a little out of budget, let’s go to New Haven to try out most of the homemade and AUTHENTIC pastries and desserts you can not miss!

You can find a multitude of desserts, including my top favorite cannoli, which is a deliciously deep-fried and creamy filling. You can also find sfogliatelle.

That’s not it. The city is also a host of delicious fresh-from-oven cookies—topped with sugar, almond, cherry butter, Milano, and many more to choose from!

These cookies are joined by a summertime Italian ice that makes your trip quite cool!
And if you are looking for the perfect place to have these, head to Libby’s Italian Pastry Shop.

Things To Know:

Established in 1933, Libby’s Pastry shop has been the heart of New Haven’s locale, and once you step into the old-fashion iron decor, you will be welcomed by the aroma of freshly baked cookies and pastries on display.

We will highly recommend you to try their cannoli with lemon ice cream (which is their top-selling ice cream to have). Just don’t get confused with the varieties of cannolis they have (but if you are, the staff can surely help you!).

But what makes Libby’s Pastry Shop an ideal place? Well, the location of it! Fortunately, it is located near Frank’s Pepe Pizzeria, and having dessert after pizza is never bad!
