Interesting Facts About This Place:

So, you have an idea of the place, but to make it a little more interesting, how about a little extra knowledge about it?

So here are some Interesting facts about this place that might surprise you.

According to the original master plan, two additional facilities were supposed to be constructed on the east and northwest side of the park.

But due to many hindrances, two of the main projects failed to be constructed.

Dante Cascade Waterfall (project east of the park), supposedly built to honor Dante Alighieri, failed due to economic instability during the Great Depression. Although the project collected funds, they were not enough; soon, the project stopped.

Kern River bowl was the second supposedly built project according to the original plan. The project was on the northwest side and was an outdoor theatre space for the public to enjoy live shows.

In 1939, a theatre was scheduled to be built, and the outdoor theatre had quite a similar design to the one in Hollywood.

The project was then submitted for the legal and government documentation process, but sadly, WW2 had hit in, so priority was given to arm forces.

The area allocated for the Kern River Bowl has now been occupied as a training booth and a shooting for the sheriffs. The area is now renamed Kern County Sheriffs’ Shooting Range.
