The Buddy Holly Center

To preserve his memory and honor his death, his family and friends donated everything and all of the personal things of the legendary rock star to the museum, which is on display.

15) Caviel Museum of African American History

Lubbock has been a great host to all the immigrants that have settled in the city since the 17th century. Still, just like that, the city opened its door to African-American couples to own the first ever pharmacy store in United States history.

Caviel Museum of African American History

Interestingly, the museum is not that old, and although it may be the first Pharmacy store owned by any African American, it sure tells us that America is the place for all the dreamers.

How may you ask?

The couple, namely Alfred and Billie Caviel, had a personal desire to convert their store into a museum for the visitors to learn about the history, culture, and important figures of African American personalities.

After the couple retired, they donated their successful business to the Roots Historical Arts Council.

17) Prairie Dog Town

According to Lubbock’s tourism survey, Prairie Dog Town is one of the best and 5th most visited places in Lubbock, and honestly, we don’t blame why people love this place so much!

These cute little and appealing mammals are just so fun to watch that anyone would play a huge sum to go there.

Prairie Dog Town

But here is the plot twist: the entrance is free, and many amenities (including soft grasses for you to lay down and the newly renovated golf course) make this small area worth going to.

So, if you love cute and small creatures, this is your place to play with them for all animal lovers! Just be careful, and you will enjoy a great time!

Things To Know:

The Prairie Dog town started with just two burrows and four dogs, but today it is one most visited places in Lubbock and a prominent place in texas.

And it is also the first site solely built for these Prairie Dogs’ protection, so it is worth visiting if you want something new and cute.

Since the Prairie Dog Town is located within Mackenzie Park, it is convenient to visit it for a quick ten minutes tour (but we guess you might enjoy a little too much with these shy little mammals!)

Also, if you plan on feeding them, we highly recommend you research their food and what ‘’human food’’ they can eat.

Although they have grown quite intelligent over the past few years and can distinguish the ‘’good food’’ from the ‘’bad food’’, you still want to do your research!

Also, since these animals are shy, try not to jump over them and drag them out. Not only will you be stretched, but you might get an infection!

So, avoid that and let them come to you instead!

FREE, THERE IS NO ENTRANCE FEE
